Remy LABBE

Bio
Rémy Labbé is a Belgian Jazz Trumpet Player, Songwriter, Orchestrator, Big Band Leader "Le Big Band de Rémy Labbé", Producer and Educator.

A graduate of Berklee College of Music (BM '15) and Manhattan School of Music (MM '18), Rémy is an Arranger for the Grammy-Award-winning band The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra directed by Arturo O'Farrill', as well as for the WE Big Band (Hasselt, Be), the Greg Ruvolo Collective (NYC), the Big Up Band (Geneva, Ch),  and the Geneva Chamber Orchestra - OCG  (Geneva, Ch).

Since September 2021 he is a Jazz Theory and a Jazz Brass Chargé de Cours at the Jazz Department from the Luxembourg Music Conservatory (Luxembourg City, Lu). 
Currently his main projects are the Rémy Labbé Quintet, Rémy Jean Labbé - his songwriting and pop music personal project, and Eddy Pero et le Big Band de Rémy Labbé (Paris, Fr) .

​Since September 2022 Remy is an Agami Artist and plays the Agami B 125 A model.

Highlights. 

  • Leader of the upcoming Rémy Labbé Quintet album Careless Territories set to be released on Challenge Records International on May 5th 2023. 

  • An Orchestrator/Arranger for the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève (OCG) directed by Maestro Arie Van Beek. ( A Tribute to Stevie Wonder - Dec 5th 2020. ) 

  • A featured Arranger for the Grammy-Award-Winning band The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra on the album Virtual Birdland released on April 9 2021, as well as on various projects: the Abu Dhabi tour, An Evening of Fandango, the Chamber Music project Songs of Love and Resistance, etc.

  • A Writer/Arranger for the Greg Ruvolo Collective as part of Greg's Tribute to Clark Terry back in May 2019 at Birdland Jazz Club (NYC) .

  • In April 2019 Labbé appeared as an arranger on Grammy-Award-Winning artist Jordan Rudess' album Wired For Madness, featuring Joe Bonamassa on Guitar.


Education and Awards.

  • Graduated Summa Cum Laude  from Manhattan School of Music (MM '18). After two years of mentorship with James 'Jim' McNeely.

  • Graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music (BM '15).

  • Recipient of the Ray Kotwica Brass Award from Berklee College of Music for 'Outstanding Musicianship' in 2013

  • A recipient of the European-Tour-Award scholarship from Berklee College of Music in 2012.

  • Holder of a Master Degree in Electrical Engineering (MMs '09) from the Ecole Polytechnique de Louvain (UCL, Belgium) .

  • Holder of a Superior Prize ("Prix supérieur en trompette Jazz", class of G. Waltzing) from the Luxembourg Music Conservatory (Lu).
