Melvin BURGER

Melvin Burgers trumpet career started with the age of 7. As a young student in the Conservatoire de Musique de la Ville de Luxembourg, he graduated already in 2007 in classical trumpet (Prix supérieur) and shortly after with a "premier prix" in Jazz.

Next to the trumpet, he took piano lessons and graduated later on in chamber music as well as in "déchiffrage" and other music subjects. Hence, he started in his early days playing in various Orchestras and Bands of the Luxembourgish music scene.

After graduation, Melvin began his trumpet studies at the "Musikhochschule der Stadt Freiburg", in the class of Anthony Plog. Simultaneously, he played as a regular substitute of the Philharmonic Orchestra in Freiburg. Further on, he gained experience playing with the "Freiburger Barockorchester" or the Chamber music of the SWR.

In Luxembourg, he participated in well-known Orchestras too, such as the "Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg" or the Luxembourg Jazz Orchestra. He had the pleasure to share the stage with outstanding artists like Patti Austin, Richard Bona, Paquito d´Rivera, Michel Camilo, Billy Cobham etc.

Melvin is now since 2012 a member of the Military Band of Luxembourg. In the beginning of his career, he continued to take trumpet classes with Theo Wolters until 2014, when he graduated from his bachelor of Music in Maastricht.

That same year, he succeeded the audition in the "Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg" to give trumpet classes.

Melvin completed his Master degree in Music in 2019 at the "Conservatory of Maastricht".
